Former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Adebayo Adelabu, on Wednesday, declared his formal intention to run for the governorship race in Oyo state, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC).
Adelabu, who is the grandson of the opposition leader in the Old Western Region House of Assembly, the late Adegoke Adelabu, popularly called Penkelemesi (peculiar mess), who died on March 25, 1958, in a motor accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, formally resigned his position at the CBN a few weeks ago after assuming office on April 9, 2014.
He disclosed his intention at an event which had thousands of supporters at his family house in Oke-Oluokun, Kudeti, Ibadan.
On why he joined the governorship race, he said, “No sacrifice is too much. I am back at home to serve my good people of Oyo State.
My vision is termed the next level to build on the successes of the current administration of Governor Ajimobi and to take the state to the next level by giving special attention to technology, Internally Generated Revenue, and people’s prosperity to restore the glory of the state as a truly pace-setting state.
“The next level pyramid enunciated earlier will have the following as focus points: security, agriculture, food security, housing, social infrastructure (health), education, transportation, and environment.”
He further appealed that he should be granted an opportunity to succeed Ajimobi in 2019, stressing that their support was vital to the success of his ambition.
