Aleph Abi Saad better known by his stage name Aleph, is a Lebanese pianist, composer, arranger and entrepreneur. He is the owner and Art Director of 8e Art Entertainment.
Known for his many original works & Sold out concerts including grand festivals. Filling out the majestic Olympia de Paris at the tender age of 36, a feat few can attain to.
A master in the world of Fusion music & a virtuoso on pianist known for his oriental touch.
We present to you our interview with Aleph below:-
1. Tell us about your latest concept ‘Radio at the Symphony’?
Radio at the Symphony has been a concept in my mind for a very long while now & it was a great pleasure to finally unveil the project at the Ghalboun International Festival to a sold out crowd.
That night the crowd witnessed for the first time their favourite hits like they have never heard them before! An epic transformation of radio waves to musical scores.
That moment when you feel the vibrations of the strings, breath of the woodwinds & the roar of the brass, … take it all in & feed your soul … for music is life.
I arranged and composed notes that any orchestra in the world would love to perform, and now we are ready to tour the world!
2. Is there a certain performance or moment in your musical career that you’ll never forget?
I’ll never forget the 28th of May 2016, a milestone date for myself. I headlined a sold out concert at the Olympia in Paris. The whole project was a result of years of hard work with some of the most talented artists in Europe.
I faced so many obstacles but we were able to push past them and make it happen. Once I got on stage, because of all my hard-work and sweat during the process of making this concert, I truly gave my all, I gave all I could give.. what great memories…
3. Tell us about your musical influences
My main influence in music comes from my passion for Flamenco Oriental Fusion. Fusion music is truly beautiful because it combines different worlds.
I also have huge love for Latin and afro music, with their groovy and complex beats & melodies. As a matter of fact, right now I am currently working on an afro song for my youngest daughter.
The best place to compose music from is the heart, and I will be sharing it soon with you on my social media.
You can see my love for African culture, I am wearing a Nigerian traditional hat in the picture … I rarely take it off. jokes*
4. How does Aleph fit into 8e Art Entertainment? What are the factors that helped form Aleph, were they influenced by 8e Art or vice versa?
I am the art director and through my experience, I now know what people want to hear. I now go through almost every detail of performances, not only the music aspects., lighting, stage design, costumes and other things.
My experiences with 8e Art have turned me from not just a performer, I now fully understand every details of live music performances.
5. What is the importance of the connections and people you meet through 8e Art Entertainment?
We started in 1999 and we became official in 2003, more than 6000 events… In every event you win something, you gain something… besides the experience and the audience’s appreciation & happiness. You win friends & fans…
You make contacts with people you can rely on, you meet big figures in many industries. Ambassadors, ministers, you name it… everyone needs entertainment at some point, you know.
There is an old Lebanese proverb, ill try to say it in English … If you follow the wire on every lamp post, it will lead you back to the power plant … everyone is connected in other words laughs*
6. What is the typical day/week in the life of Aleph?
Everyday is different, There is no routine, I am a musician, there is no TYPICAL day, No musician lives by routine.
Everyday we work on new projects, new events, brand new music… I am blessed to be an artist. I am not with the idea of working working working and than taking vacation.
I try to mix it up. Mix in my vacations with my work…All work and no play makes jack a dull boy … It makes a musician even duller laughs*
7. I’ve heard your debut album Aleph, very melodic and I felt as if I was listening to a movie soundtrack. Beautiful. Does every song have a meaning or story behind it?
Thank you so much for the compliment,yes, all songs have… Not only a story but a feeling behind it, The track 7:20 am, for example, is my take on the need to thrive every morning.
Vaya Maria is the love and care for my daughter, hope and regret is exactly what the name suggests… My translation of the relationship between hope & regret and how different and how similar they are at the same time.
My music is inspired by my daily life…I hope it makes the listeners feel something as well. God sends me inspiration and i translate it. smiles*
8. Finally, Aleph, what is your biggest blessing?
Other than my family, I’m blessed to have music, my true passion, as a career.
