[Episode 11]

I got home that day and I couldn’t help but stay happy. My mum noticed how happy I was and she said:

“I’m happy to see you happy” I gave her a kiss on her cheek. I went straight to the bedroom thinking of how I became a woman. I slept off with that thought on my mind.

I woke up the next day, feeling refreshed. I couldn’t wait to get to school to see the love of my life. I hurried to school and I was 45 minutes early to school.

I usually don’t take my phone to school but I did for the first time. I kept on reading series of text messages from My heart beat. I was blushing and my heart couldn’t stop beating.

I read one when he said “good morning sunshine, I slept with the thought of you on my mind” I beamed with smile as I began to think of the future with Mr Willimas.

I imagined him helping me out in the kitchen, I imagined him playing with our cute baby girl who’d look so much like me.

I imagined him kissing me good morning. I imagined me knotting his tie when he’s leaving for work. These thoughts made me happy.

I didn’t want to stop hallucinating but the school bell for assembly brought me back to reality.

I got downstairs and I saw Mr Willimas on the assembly ground already. He looked gorgeous. I watched as every other girl stared at him and anger filled me.

I wasn’t going to react because Mr Willimas would have gotten angry if I had done that. Instead, I focused on his lips. I wanted his lips on mine.

“I wish we could have some alone time together,” I said to myself.

“Don’t worry Kunbi, soon you’ll be Mrs W and he’d kiss you anytime, wherever you want,” I reminded myself.

All through the assembly period, we kept on exchanging glances. People must have noticed the way we looked at each other but I didn’t care because I was in our world. The W’s world.

The rest of the week was so smooth and I couldn’t have asked for a better week. I wish he could deflower me all over again.

I was chatting with him on Sunday night and all I wanted was for him to say those sweet words to me face to face and not on phone. I was still in my dreamland when a new message came in

“You know I love you so much Adekunbi and I want you to be very successful in life. If not for anything, but for your Mum. She deserves it” I smiled at his message and I immediately thanked God for giving me a good man

“Why are you saying all these though?” I asked.

“Nothing baby, I’m just trying to show you that my love for you knows no bound” he replied.

“Okay love” I said back to him.

“Kunbi, make sure you have straight A’s in your upcoming waec and neco . I want you to make me proud” he texted.

“Sure, I’ll make you proud” I replied.

“Thanks Mrs Tayo Williams,” he sent to me.

“I love you baby, good night” I replied him.

“Goodnight Kunbi. No matter what, always remember I’ll be back”.

“Why that?” I asked in anger.

“Nothing baby, I don’t just want you to hurt me” he replied.

“I love you and I won’t hurt you” I replied touching the necklace he gave me.

I went to bed happy that night. I couldn’t wait to get to school the next morning to see my Prince Charming.

It was Monday morning and I was so glad to go to school. I was kind of late but I still met them on assembly ground.

I looked over at teacher’s circle to see if my baby was there but he was no where to be found. Maybe he was just running late, I said to myself.

Assembly ended and we all went to our class. I was still wondering why Mr Willimas wasn’t on assembly ground.

Well, we’re having maths now, he’d be in class soon I assumed.

The first 45 mintues of his period had elapsed. I was so worried and I couldn’t stop thinking of the worse happening. I wish I Came with my phone, I’d have called him.

But if he was going anywhere, he would have told me I thought to myself. I closed my eyes and prayed silently that God should watch over him.

I could hear the faint voices of my class mates asking where Mr Williams was. The girls were talking about how they were missing him already.

I was too worried to get angry so I just kept mute. I was about stepping out when our principal walked in with a woman in her 40s I guess. We were all wondering who she was as we all fell silent.

We rose up to greet the principal and the woman with him.

“Sit everyone,” he said.

“As you all know you’re your final year in school. And we won’t leave you hanging without a maths teacher. As you need a maths teacher more than ever now due to your upcoming exams”

His words sent pain to my heart as I couldn’t make sense out of what he said.

As if reading my mind, Linda immediately asked; “but sir, where’s Mr Willimas?”

“He’s gone” the principal answered.

Shock filled my heart as it felt like I wanted the ground to eat me up. I couldn’t hide my emotions as tears dropped from my eyes. Making sure no one notices me, I immediately wiped my tears.

“This is Mrs Oseni” he said as he gestured to the woman standing next to him.

“She’s your new Maths teacher” he added.

“What?” The class chorused.

My heart skipped a bit at the Principal’s statement and it felt like I was going to pass out. Sweat covered me and I immediately started running temperature.

“Where’s Mr Willimas?” the class chorused as if they didn’t hear when the principal said he was gone.

“I don’t know students but what I know is that he tendered his resignation letter last week,” the principal said.

The classroom wasn’t the same as some female students began to murmur. I couldn’t hear them because I felt like dying. My heart broke into a million pieces and I couldn’t wait to get home to get hold of my phone.

“Let’s get to know each other because we have few minutes left” Mrs oseni said.

I wasn’t myself throughout the day as all I wanted to do was to go home

It was closing hour and I immediately rushed home. I went straight to my room to pick up my phone. I immediately dialled Mr Williams number but it wasn’t reachable. I died and resurrected immediately.

Tears filled my eyes as it dawned on me that Mr Williams was gone. I checked through my phone as I saw that he left a message saying:

“I’ll be back”.

I cried and screamed as I threw my phone on the floor. God this can’t be happening I said to myself.

Where’s Mr Williams? I asked myself.
