The Nigeria Music Industry has been characterized y the fall and rise and many artistes and only a few have managed to stand the test of time due to timeless music and huge fan base who are ready to digest anything from them, among these few are Davido and Wizkid.

These two artistes are revered by fans home and abroad. Their music has transcended from the local sphere to the international level and this is evident in the number of people who turn up for their shows and concerts, whether home or abroad, their numbers are always record breaking.

The supremacy battle between the two artistes which is mostly instigated by fans isn’t simmering down anytime soon. The record broken by these guys make it seem like every other artiste in the country isn’t working had enough.

Even when they are not releasing any new materials they always find a way to be in the news. Davido boasts of over 10million followers on Instagram, making him the most followed artiste on the continent on the platform.

Wizkid also boasts of over 7million followers on Instagram. With different records broken, awards won and a host of other achievements by these two legends, they have cemented their place as kings of Nigeria pop music.

Moving away from these two legends, we also have females in the industry who of course are also hardworking and have also achieved major feats in an industry with conditions not favourable to the female gender but not minding these they have gone ahead to prove to us that what a man can do a woman can do better.

Yemi Alade

Yemi Alade aka Mama Africa, signed to Efizzy music group is the first female African artiste to hit a million views on YouTube video (Johnny), she has had successful tours all over Africa and the world as well, most times recording over a thousand attended.

She is arguably the most recognized female act in Africa, her songs are chart-topping, even though recently, fans have been complaining about the mediocre music she has been releasing but according to her ‘if it’s not making money it’s not making sense‘.

Tiwa Savage

Number 1 African bad gyal, vice president of the stew nation is signed to Mavin record, Tiwa is a talented song writer, singer, and vocalist.

Her impressive musical dexterity has earned her fans all over the world and also quite a number of awards including the BET.

She has over 500,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

Niniola

Niniola is a singer and a songwriter with a vocal range that can break a glass, she has created a music genre for herself called afro-house which is a blend of Afrobeat and South Africa house music.

Her debut album ‘This is me‘ houses songs like Saro, Magun, Maradona which went on to be the biggest song in her career-topping charts in South Africa and getting massive airplay in Brazil.

She is the first female Nigerian artiste to have over 1million Spotify listeners.

Simi

Simi is signed to X3M Music, the label which also houses Praiz.

Simi started off as a gospel artiste before switching. She released her debut album ‘Simisola‘ in 2017 which received positive reviews from critics and fans alike. She has headlined concerts home and abroad.
