“Why FG Stopped States From Repairing Federal Roads” – Fayemi Narrates

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has said that shortage of funds forced the Federal Government to stop states from rehabilitating federal roads.

Fayemi stated this in Ado-Ekiti yesterday at a colloquium to mark the first year of his second term in office.

The governor said he would have loved to fix some of the federal roads in the state but for the stringent warning from the Minister of Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola, that there won’t be refund on such interventions.

Meanwhile, Fayemi has laid the foundation for the Ministry of Justice office complex and the Traditional Council Chambers, assuring Ekiti workers of his administration’s commitment to enhancing the productivity of Ekiti State workers by providing a conducive working environment for them.

The governor, at the ceremony, also promised to complete all abandoned buildings in the secretariat complex, just as he expressed appreciation to all civil servants for their contributions and dedication to duties, which according to him, had aided socio-economic growth in the state in the last one year.

He commended the state Ministry of Justice in its drive to ensure that cases are dispensed without delay.

In another development, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has described the one-year administration of the Fayemi-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government as a colossal failure with no visible achievement to showcase.

The party alleged that the several billions of naira collected as allocations by the state from the Federal Government had been grossly mismanaged with other funds and grants squandered.

In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Jackson Adebayo, the party accused Fayemi of dragging Ekiti State back from the development trends he met on ground when he assumed office on October 16, 2018.

However, the state APC Publicity Secretary, Ade Ajayi, described the allegations as concocted falsehood and monumental conjectures.

Ajayi, who noted that Fayemi would not be distracted by the ranting of paranoid people who are only perfectionist at spreading lies, said the distractions would not deter the purposeful Fayemi-led administration from its avowed commitment to clear the huge rots left behind by the opposition and rescue Ekiti from the clutches of those who held the state by jugular.
