Less than 10 months to the governorship election in Ondo State, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has pledged never to play politics with the people’s destiny.
The governor promised to continue rendering purposeful and selfless leadership that would engender all-round development across the 18 councils of the state.
He declared this on Wednesday evening while delivering his address during the 2019 State Carols and Lessons at the International Event and Culture Centre (Dome), Akure.
Members of the State Executive Council (SEC), House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun, royal fathers, religious leaders and other eminent personalities, including Femi Falana, also attended the event.
Akeredolu said his belief was that government and development should be about the people and for the benefit of the people.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) said his administration’s priority on opening up rural roads would continue to facilitate easy evacuation of agricultural produce from the farms when the dry season starts.
According to him, the government’s efforts in the industrialisation of the state are already yielding fruits, adding that the state will be better for it in the long run.
He urged the people to reflect on the major reason for the birth of Jesus Christ, which he described as redemption from judgment to salvation, healing, and happiness.
The governor said the people must embrace and promote humanity, common good, love, peace, care, and concern for one another, and most importantly, the pathway to the salvation of others.
