I’ll Not Tolerate Any More Protests In Imo, Governor Uzodinma Declares

The newly elected Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma has reacted to protest going on in the state which challenged his triumph as the winner of the state governorship election, following a Supreme Court ruling.

Speaking on Thursday during a Solidarity rally organised for the Imo State Governor, Uzodinma noted that henceforth he will not accept any form of protests that will question his victory over the former governor, Emeka Ihedioha, who was sacked by the Supreme Court.

Naija News understands that the solidarity rally was organized for Uzodinma at the state government house in Owerri by members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers and Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD).

“The protests are sponsored to destabilize government activities and tamper with the peace of the state,” Uzodinma noted.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Governor while warning individuals and groups to desist from destabilising government activities, added that he will no longer fold his arms and watch any group under any guise trample upon the peace of the state.

Uzodinma, however, reassured Imo residents that his administration is for peace and service, to provide equal opportunities for the overall development of the state and her citizens regardless of cadre and status.

He reiterated, “My government will do all within the ambits of the law to maintain peace and order; those who are engaging in these incessant protests must stop forthwith. I took an oath to maintain peace and protect the lives and property of the citizens, I will not fail to deal with any group causing a breach of the peace in the state.”

Meanwhile, Naija News had reported earlier that Emeka Ihedioha, a former governor of Imo State, has officially asked the Supreme Court to set aside its declaration of Hope Uzodinma as the authentic governor of the state.
