Osun Government Urges WAEC To Increase Its War Against Examination Malpractices

The Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, on Wednesday has advised the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to increase its war against ‘miracle centres’ (a centre for malpractices during examination) in order to stop examination malpractices in the country.

The Governor made this statement when members of the council visited his office.

He said further that the general public must realise that miracle centres were only synonymous or found among some churches and not in the education sector.

He then commended the board for showing much interest on the issue as well as taking steps in sanctioning offenders.

He said that WAEC had recorded great achievements in its bid to ensure zero tolerance to examination malpractice and the government assured them of their support in any way they can.

He also promised to collaborate with the council in the area of training and retraining of Osun teachers, as some teachers have taught for 20 years without any form of training

Oyetola urged the board to work with the Ministry of Education to see how they can train teachers and encourage children to embrace hard work so that success can be achieved.

The council’s outgoing Head, WAEC National Office in Nigeria, Mr Olu Adenipekun, has earlier lauded the governor for the reception accorded his delegation and the support the council was receiving from the state.

He then assured the Governor that there would be a total collaboration with the state in the fight against examination malpractice
