Police Arraign Suspects Of Abuja Bank Robbery


The Federal Highcourt in Abuja has today remanded five suspected arm robbers that were arrested a month ago for allegedly robbing a branch of the First Bank located at Mbape.

According to the report, the five men who were arrested on 28th of December 2019 were arraigned before the Federal High court, Abuja, for allegedly responsible for the robbery that was carried out the Abuja branch of First Bank on the reported date.

They accused persons were arraigned before Justice Ajoke Adepoju of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja today, Naija News understands.

However, the defendants, Ehizo Larry, Princewill Obinna, Elijah David, Timothy Joe, and Ernest Ewin, all pleaded not guilty of the crime they were accused of, which involved armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms.

Reacting to the accused claim, the prosecuting counsel, James Idachaba, prayed the Federal High Court to remand them in prison and demand that his team be given one week to present its case.

He added that the prosecution had listed seven witnesses and would tender vital exhibits.

“Our case is very easy because the defendants were caught in the act,” said Idachaba.

Justice Adepoju in his ruling, however, ordered the remand of the five suspects adjourned the case to March 13 for further hearing.

Meanwhile, Naija News had reported that the Federal High Court, sitting in Calabar, has granted bail to the detained Nigerian journalist, Agba Jalingo.

Justice Sule Shuaibu of the Federal High Court, Calabar, on Thursday granted the journalist N10 million bail, following an application from his lawyer, Attah Ochinke.
