


The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the ruling which sacked David Lyon as the governor-elect of Bayelsa State.
Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, who led a seven-man panel of the apex court, after listening to the submissions of the counsels from both parties dismissed the case by APC and David Lyon for lack of merit.
It will be recalled the All Progressives Congress (APC) had approached the apex court for a review of its February 13, 2020 judgment which overturned its victory in the last governorship election in Bayelsa State.

The apex court on Thursday 13th February, nullified the election of Bayelsa State governor-elect, David Lyon and his running mate Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.
The Apex court also declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Douye Diri as the authentic winner of the election.
