62-year-old woman dies in stampede while struggling for COVID-19 palliative in Rivers

A 62-year-old woman has reportedly died after she was stamped while struggling to collect Covid-19 palliative in Rivers State. Vanguard reports.

The deceased, a 62-year-old woman identified as Mrs. Florence Onuobodo arrived at the venue with the hope to receive the palliatives. However, due to impatience on the part of some other citizens, a stampede ensued and she was trampled upon by people who were also struggling to collect the food items.

A counsellor representing Elele, ward 4, at Ikwerre LGA Legislative Assembly, Emmanuel Amadi, while confirming the report, said it was unfortunate that the deceased died at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital where she was rushed to.
