Nigerian attacker Samuel Kalu has given Girondins Bordeaux a halftime lead against Metz after smashing home a decent Youssouf Sabaly cross in the 14th minute of their Ligue 1 clash.

The visitors arrived at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique in Bordeaux full of confidence, having won their last two away games against Amiens and Nice.

But Kalu handed Bordeaux a dream start on home ground when he volleyed the ball into the back of the net after Sabaly directed a ball squarely in the box for his fourth league goal of the campaign.
