Nigerian music star Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, reportedly narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Wednesday after capturing a man armed with a gun.

It was gathered that the incident took place at Ota in Ogun State, with Portable sharing his distress and relief in a video obtained by SaharaReporters.

In the video, Portable, who appears to be visibly shaken in the video, is seen shouting and appealing for public sympathy, stating, “They want to kill me!“

The video also captured the tense moment when a half-naked man, allegedly the assailant, was detained while holding a gun.

Bystanders were heard demanding answers, asking, “Who pulled the trigger?”

Efforts to get a statement from the Ogun State Police Command hit a roadblock, as its spokesperson SP Odutola Omolola did not respond to calls or messages sent to her.

However, the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Meanwhile, the controversial artist is known for being outspoken.
