The Edo State House of Assembly has relieved all its political appointees of their appointments.

DAILY POST reports that the Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku disclosed this at plenary sitting on Tuesday.

Agbebaku, who said the termination of their appointments take immediate effect, added that they would be paid the February salary.

He said the decision was taken collectively by the 24 lawmakers.

He said the appointees are Special Advisers, Senior Special Advisers among others.

The speaker said the appointees were appointed by the members of the 8th assembly on the assumption of office in June 2023.

According to him, ”upon our resumption as members of this house, some aides were appointed and members of the various constituencies sent their nominees for appointment.

“I think, it is two years now, and, I think the house has graciously agreed that those sets of appointees SAs and SSAs are hereby relieved of their appointments today, February 19, 2025.

“And we will meet consequently to know the next line of actions to take on that. They should receive this month’s February 2025 salary”, he said.
