Real Madrid want to announce the signing of defender Álvaro Carreras after the 2025 Club World Cup concludes this weekend.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, Los Blancos and Benfica are close to finalising an agreement for Carreras.

Recall that Carreras was among the three players former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti wanted to sign for the Spanish La Liga giants.

Carreras first joined Real Madrid at the age of 14 from Deportivo La Coruña.

The 22-Year-Old left the Santiago Bernabéu to join Manchester United in 2020, but never made a senior appearance for the Premier League club.

After an unsuccessful loan spell at Spanish side Granada, Carreras’ career finally took off following a move to Benfica.

He joined the Portuguese giants initially on loan, before signing a permanent contract last year.
