FULL LIST: Baddo replaces Charly Boy as Bariga renames streets after celebrities

The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos has officially renamed several streets in recognition of Nigerian celebrities and distinguished personalities.

Kolade David, the Bariga LCDA chairman, whose tenure ended on Friday, announced the changes, in a statement shared on X by Jubril Gawat, the special assistant to Lagos governor on new media.

David revealed that the decision was made to recognise individuals who have elevated the reputation of Bariga on the global stage through their talents and contributions to national and state development.

The statement revealed that Charly Boy Bus Stop has been renamed to Baddo Bus Stop in recognition of popular rapper Olamide ‘Baddo’ Adedeji.

Among those honoured are legendary musician King Sunny Ade, singer 9ice, artiste Tony Tetuila, and Nigerian-born Arsenal footballer Bukayo Saka.

The renaming also paid tribute to political leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos.

“As an administration we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council out on the Global map through their respective God given talents and craft, as well as eminent personalities in our Nation and our beloved state and Local Council who have contributed immensely to the development of our Nation and our State,” the statement reads.

“Today, we will be officially renaming streets in honour of the legacies.”
