Lauretta Onnochie, former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has spoken to President Bola Tinubu on the repercussions from the Niger Delta in 2027 due to his actions in Rivers State.

‎Onnochie warned that the Niger Delta people will punish Tinubu for the alleged lawlessness he imposed on Rivers State.

‎She accused Tinubu of imposing an illegal and unconstitutional emergency rule in Rivers State for six months.

‎On March 18, 2025, Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Governor Sim Fubara, the deputy governor, and all members of the state House of Assembly.

‎During the suspension, Tinubu appointed Ibok Ibas as Sole Administrator to manage the state, aiming to prevent a political crisis.
