Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has insisted that his meeting this week with the club’s co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, was not a crisis meeting.
The Red Devils have only four points from their four Premier League fixtures so far.
They were also eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town, who play in the fourth tier.
Amorim has won just eight of his 31 league matches since taking charge in November.
But he has been reassured that United remain committed to a long-term project.
“A new contract,” Amorim joked when asked about the subject of his meeting with Ratcliffe.
“No, it is normal things, just to show the support and explaining that it is a long project.”
United finished 15th last season and blew the chance to qualify for the Champions League when they lost the Europa League final to Tottenham.
