The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, will on Thursday (today) learn his fate in the prolonged legal battle with the Federal Government.
The long-running trial of the pro-Biafra leader reaches its climax as the Federal High Court in Abuja prepares to deliver a verdict in what is considered one of the most politically charged trials in Nigeria’s recent history.
The presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho, will deliver judgment on terrorism charges against Kanu, who was first arrested in 2015, fled after being granted bail in 2017, and was rearrested in 2021.
Kanu has challenged the credibility of DSS witnesses and filed motions against the attorney general and security officials, alleging perjury and fabricated evidence.
After a decade of courtroom battles, today’s ruling marks a decisive moment in Kanu’s trial, though appeals are expected to follow.
Meanwhile, the Federal High Court has approved the live telecast of the judgment.
