The Public Accounts Committee, PAC, of the House of Representatives has ordered the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Bayo Ojulari, to submit all outstanding documents and appear before the committee on Monday, December 15, 2025, to respond to audit queries covering expenditures from January to December 2021.
The directive was issued by the committee chairman, Hon. Bamidele Salam, during Monday’s sitting in Abuja.
Salam expressed displeasure over NNPCL’s continued failure to attend previous hearings or submit requested documents despite several reminders, warning that the committee would no longer tolerate any disregard for its oversight responsibilities.
He also read a letter from NNPCL in which the GCEO explained his absence, noting that he was engaged in another critical assignment at the Presidential Villa.
PAC members nonetheless condemned the company’s conduct as disrespectful to the National Assembly and a hindrance to the audit process.
After an appeal from NNPCL’s National Assembly Liaison Officer, Hon. Umar Faruk, the committee agreed to grant one final extension, fixing Monday, December 15, as the last deadline for the company to appear and provide all outstanding documents.
“We have agreed as a committee to give you up till next week Monday, the 15th of December, for a fresh appearance.
“Remember, the committee is very busy; we are dealing with so many issues. If you had been here in the last couple of weeks, you would understand the volume of matters before us,” Salam said.
NNPCL is required to address multiple audit queries issued by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, including alleged payments to contractors for abandoned projects, failure to remit statutory taxes, and irregular disbursements reportedly approved by the Chief Finance Officer without the endorsement of the Group Managing Director.
