Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found dead on Sunday afternoon inside their Brentwood mansion in the United States (US), officials said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that a man and a woman, believed to be about 78 and 68 years old, were discovered deceased inside the home around 3:30 p.m. A source close to Reiner told NBC News that the couple found in the residence were Reiner and his wife, and that they had apparent stab wounds.

LAFD paramedics were called to the property on Chadbourne Avenue at about 3:30 p.m., after which police were notified.

LAPD Deputy Police Chief Alan Hamilton said detectives were not currently seeking any suspect or person of interest, pending the outcome of the investigation. He did not confirm the identities of the victims, noting that the Los Angeles County Coroner would release that information at a later time.

“Before we do anything here, we have to get a search warrant because there are issues regarding standing at this residence,” said Hamilton. “So as long as those legal requirements are met, we can continue the investigation.”

Hamilton added that investigators would secure the warrant shortly and that the case would be handled by the Robbery Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police officers were dispatched to the home shortly after paramedics arrived, following a report classified as an “ambulance death investigation,” a term used by LAPD when firefighters alert officers to the discovery of a death.
