Nigerian music veteran D’Banj opens his 2026 release run with “Safe Space,” issued through DKM Media under exclusive licence to Cinq Music Group.
The single follows 2025’s “Tobari” and places D’Banj in a fresher musical setting rather than leaning heavily on the sound of his earlier hits. Its rollout also signals another phase in a career that has repeatedly moved between mainstream Nigerian pop and broader international audiences.
The production blends contemporary Afrobeats with noticeable Afro-Latino influence, giving the record a different rhythmic character from much of his classic catalogue. D’Banj keeps his familiar vocal personality intact, using the new backdrop without allowing it to overpower his performance.
More than two decades into his career, D’Banj still carries recognition built through records such as “Fall in Love” and “Oliver Twist.” Exploring a different sonic direction gives the new single room to reach longtime listeners while testing its appeal with a newer Afrobeats audience.
