“God Can Bless Anybody” revisits the difficult beginnings of Nigerian singer Mr 2Kay on his 2018 album Elevated, featuring fellow Nigerian artist Idahams.

Drawing from his experiences selling kerosene and coconuts to survive, Mr 2Kay reflects on the struggles he faced before gaining recognition in music. He encourages listeners never to look down on others, reminding them that success is not reserved for people from privileged backgrounds. Idahams also contributes to this message of faith and perseverance.

Interestingly, Idahams wrote and produced the song, combining an accessible Afropop arrangement with a memorable, recurring chorus. The verses alternate between personal storytelling and words of encouragement, allowing the message to remain central throughout the recording.

The song gained considerable attention following its release, with its message of hope resonating beyond the singer’s immediate audience. Mr 2Kay makes the encouragement particularly convincing by referencing his own hardships, rejection and eventual progress in the music industry.
