A prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of social media influencer Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has told a Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja that he allegedly paid N69.15 million for a property after the defendant presented herself as its owner.
The witness, Dr Onuoha Okeigwe, disclosed this on Monday while being cross-examined by defence counsel, maintaining that Blessing CEO represented herself as the property owner in WhatsApp conversations and during face-to-face interactions before he made the payment.
Okeigwe, the first prosecution witness (PW1), told the court that his allegation was supported by WhatsApp messages, documents obtained from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and other materials submitted as evidence.
He, however, clarified that he was a chiropractic doctor and not a lawyer, adding that he did not understand legal terminology.
Despite this, the witness insisted that he had sufficient evidence to support his allegation that the defendant falsely claimed ownership of the property before collecting the money.
“Blessing CEO presented herself, claiming to be the owner of the property, and falsely collected money from me. She impersonated the owner of the property,” he told the court.
Okeigwe said his allegation was not based solely on WhatsApp conversations, stressing that other documents and materials had been presented to support his account of the transaction.
He also told the court that he communicated with the defendant both before and after making the payment for the property.
The witness disclosed that he had instituted a separate civil suit against Blessing CEO to recover money he spent renovating the property and to seek damages.
According to him, he spent more than N100 million renovating the property to meet the standards required for the medical facility he intended to establish there.
He explained that the criminal proceedings before the court concerned the N69.15 million allegedly paid to purchase the property, while the separate civil action sought to recover the renovation expenses and damages arising from the dispute.
During cross-examination, the defence questioned the evidence Okeigwe had presented to support his allegation.
When asked whether Exhibit C was the only evidence he had submitted to establish his claim, the witness disagreed, maintaining that other materials had also been presented to the court.
The case arose from allegations that the social media influencer obtained money by false pretence and stole N69.15 million in connection with the property transaction.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Blessing CEO on June 9, 2026, on two counts of obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Justice Oshodi adjourned the case until January 12, 2027, for the prosecution to call additional witnesses.
The allegations against Blessing CEO remain before the court.
