Jay-Z will take centre stage at the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, marking a new chapter in his involvement with one of American football’s biggest annual events.
The announcement came on Monday, October 26, during Monday Night Football, following a teaser that hinted at a major reveal.
The black-and-white clip showed the rapper seated in a stadium, accompanied by Public Service Announcement (Interlude) from his 2003 album The Black Album. It opened with his familiar introduction, “Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name HOV”, before the words “GOAT’s out of the bag” appeared on screen. The video was later shared on social media.
Jay-Z’s appointment follows years of involvement behind the scenes. Since 2020, he has worked with Roc Nation on producing the Super Bowl halftime show.
Reports had previously suggested that the rapper would headline the 2027 edition, with the announcement initially expected during his performances at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, over the weekend. However, the shows on Friday and Saturday passed without confirmation.
SoFi Stadium is scheduled to host the 2027 Super Bowl, making the venue a fitting backdrop for the rapper’s anticipated performance.
