Nigerian Afro-Soul singer, songwriter and producer Lodù has unveiled a new single titled “Moróuntódùn,” a heartfelt record that explores themes of love, emotional connection and self-discovery.
The song, whose title translates to “I’ve found something sweet,” reflects on the experience of finding a meaningful relationship and the comfort that comes with genuine companionship.
Through a blend of Afro-Soul influences, folk-inspired sounds and contemporary production, the singer delivers a reflective and emotionally driven performance.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Lodù said the record was created to capture the feeling of finding a connection that feels both new and familiar.
“Moróuntódùn is about discovering a kind of love that brings peace and certainty. It’s not necessarily about grand gestures; it’s about the quiet moments that make you feel seen, understood and at home,” she said.
According to the artist, the song also serves as a celebration of indigenous language and storytelling.
“I enjoy drawing from cultural expressions and everyday experiences. There are so many beautiful words and sentiments in our languages that deserve to be heard and appreciated by new generations,” Lodù added.
The release continues Lodù’s growing presence in Nigeria’s music scene, following the success of her previous single, “Olowo Orimi,” which reached No. 32 on the Nigeria Top 50 chart and remained on the ranking for several weeks.
Music enthusiasts have praised Lodù for her distinctive approach to songwriting, which combines personal narratives with broader themes that resonate with listeners across different backgrounds.
On the creative process behind the track, the singer explained that simplicity was a key consideration.
“I wanted the music to breathe. Every element was intentionally placed to support the emotion of the song rather than overpower it. The focus was on creating something honest and timeless,” she said.
As both a vocalist and producer, Lodù remains closely involved in every stage of her music-making process, a creative approach she says allows her to maintain authenticity in her work.
“For me, music is about telling stories that people can connect with. Whether it’s love, growth or personal experiences, I want listeners to find a piece of themselves in the songs,” she noted.
With the release of “Moróuntódùn,” Lodù continues to expand her catalogue of Afro-Soul music while reinforcing her commitment to blending contemporary sounds with cultural heritage and emotional storytelling.
