“My Type” brings Nigerian singers FOLA and BNXN together again, extending their collaborative history on the 2026 studio album 9.
The artists previously worked on the remix of “alone” and reunited for “Very Soon”, a song from the 2025 album CAPTAIN. Their partnership continued with “Shamaya”, released on BNXN’s Still in Charge EP shortly before this album arrived.
Both singers have established identities within melodic Afrobeats, drawing on contemporary R&B influences while maintaining different approaches to vocal expression. Their repeated collaborations reflect a shared musical background that has already produced several recognised recordings.
With both artists enjoying considerable attention from Nigerian audiences, the release benefits from their established history rather than depending entirely on the novelty of a first-time collaboration. It extends a partnership that has accompanied important developments in their respective careers.
