Bayern Munich will make a fresh move for Leroy Sane in January, outgoing club president Uli Hoeness has declared.

Die Roten were desperate to take the Manchester City winger back to Bavaria in the summer.

Bayern chiefs view the 23 year-old as the man to replace club legends Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

But bosses balked at City’s £100million-plus price tag during the summer, labelling the Premier League club’s demands “insane”.

And when Sane picked up an ACL injury in the Community Shield, Bayern’s interest was placed firmly on hold.

However, Bayern officials are continuing to monitor Sane’s recovery.

The player angered Pep Guardiola and City officials by opting for Austrian specialist Professor Christian Fink to perform his surgery, rather than to place his treatment and rehab in the hands of Dr Ramon Cugat – City’s preferred choice.

And Sane continues to hold out on signing a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.
