NFF Releases Super Eagles COVID-19 Results Ahead Of Tunisia Friendly

The Nigerian national team and its coaching crew were subjected to a fresh round of coronavirus tests on Monday as they get set to face the North Africans on Tuesday

Every single playing and coaching staff have been declared coronavirus-free after their latest COVID-19 tests came back negative.

Announcing the test results on their official website, the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that the game against Tunisia would proceed as planned as no new medical worries are facing any of the players or officials.

It should be recalled that the entire Nigerian contingent of players and officials was subjected to the same COVID-19 tests on Friday just before the encounter against Algeria, with all returning negative.

However, Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr will still not have a full complement of players to call on when the three-time African champions meet the Carthage Eagles later tonight.

The duo of Watford’s William Troost-Ekong and Bordeaux’s Samuel Kalu have both been permitted to leave the Eagles camp in Austria for various reasons

Nigeria remain without the services of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, and Rangers’ Joe Aribo.

The former Gabon manager will, however, hope that the squad at his disposal would put up a better showing than the lacklustre performance that allowed African champions Algeria triumph 1-0 in Klagenfurt on Friday.

Tunisia bowed 1-0 to Nigeria in Egypt last year during the third-place match of the African Cup of Nations tournament.

The North Africans have not beaten Nigeria in a competitive game since the 2004 AFCON that they hosted. The Carthage Eagles defeated the Super Eagles on penalty shoot-out after both teams tied 1-1 in regulation and extra time at the Stade Olympique in Rades, outside Tunis.

Tuesday’s international friendly is the 20th time Nigeria and Tunisia have met, with both nations claiming six wins apiece, and nine other previous match-ups ending in draws.
