Nigerian Stars Aribo, Balogun Celebrates Winning Historic League Title

Celtic only drew at Dundee United on Sunday to throw Rangers and hundreds of thousands of people associated with the club into jubilation
Rangers are the new champions of Scotland after Steven Gerrard’s men dethroned Celtic to clinch their 55th top-light title with a bit to spare.
The Gers have been, by some clear distance, the best team in the country, losing none of their 32 matches played thus far and winning 28 of them.
The triumph has nothing to do with luck, with Rangers boasting the best attack and defence in the Premiership: the newly-crowned champions scored 77 goals – 12 better than second-best Celtic – and conceded just nine. For context, bitter rivals Celtic shipped a respectable 23 goals in their 32 matches.
Two Nigerian internationals have been crucial to the Gers’ incredible consistency this term.
Midfielder Joe Aribo contributed ten goals (six goals and four assists) in 24 appearances.
At the same time, compatriot Leon Balogun featured in 17 games and played his part in making the Light Blues the meanest defence in Scotland.
Both players were involved on Saturday as Rangers powered past St Mirren 3-0 at the Ibrox Stadium to establish a 21-point gap on Celtic.
Only a Celtic victory at Dundee United would have delayed Rangers’ crowning for at least another week. Still, the Bhoys managed just a stalemate to send their eternal foes into wild celebration.
Super Eagles defender Balogun immediately took to his Twitter account to celebrate his first career league triumph.

The title win is also Aribo’s first career triumph.
